Your pass book shows no payment to your account

on 30th March and only $50.00 on 29th.

Some daily takings are in cash. I added up the

amount, issued my cheque to Government and took cash for

my own use.

What you have told us about paying cash to your

own account the day before and issuing cheque the follow-

ing day is incorrect?

The reason why I have said $1800 is that I have

advanced some of the daily takings for watchmen's fees

and the balance I paid into my own account to make up

the $1800.00. I kept the money in my safe till one

day before.

Are the extra watchmen paid salaries? If so, at

what rate?

Yes. I don't know what their salaries are, they

are paid by the Head Watchman.

How do you know what amount to pay to the

Head Watchman?

watchmen?

He tells me and signs for the lot.

Do you get receipts signed by the individual

No.

Do you give the Head Watchman cheque or cash? Cash out of the daily takings. No.1 tells me

when he wants it.

What do you mean by the "daily takings"?

The possession fees.

Did you before August 21st receive complaints

as to persons not being paid moneys due on distraints?

Yes. Since about February there have been many complaints to me personally. I told them to see

the Head Bailiff. I did not report to Mr. Nisbet or
